Fuel Pass III: Deadlines, Beneficiaries, and Fuel Subsidy Amounts
The Fuel Pass III (state fuel subsidy program) is currently underway, aiming to partially cover transportation costs for individuals and self-employed professionals during the April-May 2026 period. The measure serves as a counterweight to rising fuel prices, attributed to the Middle East crisis and fluctuations in international Brent crude oil prices.
Submission and Usage Deadlines
The platform for submitting applications opened in early April and will remain available to interested parties exclusively until April 30, 2026. As no program extension has been announced thus far, those who do not apply within this timeframe will be unable to participate, as no second application cycle is currently planned.
However, beneficiaries who receive the subsidy have until July 31, 2026, to utilize the funds.
How the Subsidy Works
Fuel Pass does not directly reduce fuel prices at the pump. Instead, it functions as a credit used during on-site payment. Based on average consumption, the subsidy is estimated to correspond to a benefit of approximately 30 to 36 cents per liter.
The support is provided in two ways: via a digital debit card, where the amount is redeemed directly at gas stations, or via deposit to a bank account (IBAN - International Bank Account Number), where funds are credited and can be used without restrictions.
Amounts and Vehicle Categories
The final amount a beneficiary receives depends on the vehicle type, permanent residence (mainland or island Greece), and the selected payment method. Specifically:
- For passenger vehicles (IX - private use vehicles): The subsidy using a digital card is set at €50 for mainland Greece and €60 for the islands. If bank deposit via IBAN is selected, the amounts are reduced to €40 and €50, respectively.
- For motorcycles: The amount is €30 (mainland) and €35 (islands) via digital card, while via bank deposit, it is set at €25 and €30, respectively.
The differentiation in amounts between mainland Greece and the islands reflects the increased transport costs in island regions.
Beneficiaries and Income Criteria
Individuals and self-employed professionals are eligible for the program, provided they are tax residents of Greece and own a vehicle in circulation. Specific income criteria apply for the subsidy:
- Up to €25,000 for single individuals.
- Up to €35,000 for married couples, with an increase of €5,000 for each child.
- Up to €39,000 for single-parent families (also with an incremental increase).
Interested parties are urged to act promptly and complete the process immediately to benefit from the support measure before the deadline expires.
