Anilio-Plaka Road: "Green Light" for Immediate Repairs Following Catastrophic Floods
The restoration of daily life and safety on the road network of Eastern Pelion is now moving toward implementation. Following a recent official decision, the technical study and procedures have been approved for the full repair of damages caused by the extreme weather events "Daniel" and "Elias" on the critical road section connecting Anilio – Plaka, within the Municipality of Zagora-Mouresi.
The most significant element of the decision is the selection of the emergency procedure. Specifically, the state has decided to bypass the time-consuming bureaucratic processes of standard tenders, opting instead for a contract through "direct award with negotiation." This move was deemed mandatory as the current condition of the road poses risks to commuters and hinders the smooth connectivity of the region.
The decision includes the approval of the specialized study (Ref. No. 4114/23.03.2026), the definition of specifications for the invitation to contractors, and the formation of the committee that will evaluate bids in record time.
What This Means for Business
This development provides a vital "lifeline" for the local economy, which relies heavily on tourism and agricultural production.
- Tourism Sector: Restoring access to Plaka is crucial for hotels and accommodations in the area, especially ahead of peak tourist seasons. Safe visitor access is the primary prerequisite for the sustainability of tourism units.
- Supply Chain: Local catering and commercial enterprises will see product transportation costs stabilize, as long detours and vehicle wear from damaged road surfaces will be eliminated.
- Construction Sector: The decision immediately paves the way for the mobilization of technical companies, as the economic operators invited to submit bids have already been identified, ensuring that infrastructure investment begins without further delay.
It is clear that the emphasis is on speed. The utilization of Article 32 of Law 4412/2016 for "emergency cases" underscores the necessity of healing the wounds left by the floods, providing practical support to local entrepreneurship.
The decision bears the ADA (Unique Internet Upload Number): 6ΥΥ7ΩΡΚ-ΤΟΥ and is available on Diavgeia (Greece's mandatory transparency portal for all government acts).
