# Greece's one-off €300 for people unemployed for over five years: who qualifies and how to claim it

Greek news sites are again running stories about a "€300 for the unemployed", some with headlines that make it sound new, such as ΤΑ ΝΕΑ's «Έκτακτο επίδομα» ("extraordinary benefit", in our translation).[S9][S10] It is not new. The €300 is a standing, one-off payment for people registered as unemployed for more than five years, set out in article 17(4) of law 4921/2022, the 2022 jobs law.[S2] ΔΥΠΑ (Δημόσια Υπηρεσία Απασχόλησης, Dimosia Ypiresia Apascholisis), Greece's public employment service, runs it.[S1] The gov.gr service page is live, and its last update is dated Wednesday 7 October 2026.[S1] None of the March or October 2026 press stories we read gives a new decision or a payment date.[S9][S10][S11]

## Is the €300 a new payment for October 2026?

No. Law 4921/2022 says of the €300: "this payment is granted only once", in our translation.[S2] Each person can receive it once, not once a year.[S2] ΔΥΠΑ first paid it on Friday 17 February 2023, to 41,755 people.[S4] It has paid further batches since then, as more people reached the conditions.[S5][S6][S7]

## Who qualifies for the €300?

The gov.gr page sets four conditions.[S1] You must:

- have completed more than five years of continuous registered unemployment, with the five years reached on or after 18 April 2022;[S1]
- have drawn up a Digital Individual Action Plan (Ψηφιακό Ατομικό Σχέδιο Δράσης) with ΔΥΠΑ;[S1]
- receive no benefit or financial support;[S1]
- be within the family income limits below.[S1]

The law's text gives priority to people registered as unemployed for at least five years before the law was published on 18 April 2022.[S2] The gov.gr page instead refers to five years completed on or after 18 April 2022, and that is the wording ΔΥΠΑ uses today.[S1]

## What are the income limits?

The test is on annual family income from every source, "actual and deemed" (πραγματικό και τεκμαρτό), in our translation.[S1] The gov.gr page does not explain what counts as deemed income.[S1] The gov.gr page sets these limits:[S1]

By our calculation, a married couple with two children may have up to €34,000, and so may a single parent with two children.

The limits have risen since 2023. ΔΥΠΑ's instructions in January 2023 gave €27,000 for single parents and €3,000 per child.[S8] The law ties income conditions for jobseekers' benefits to the heating-allowance ministerial decision "as in force from time to time", in our translation.[S3] By our reading, that is why the figures move, though ΔΥΠΑ has not said so in those terms.[S3] In February and April 2024 ΔΥΠΑ also said that the family's gross business revenue must not exceed €80,000.[S5][S6] The current gov.gr page does not mention that cap.[S1]

## How do I get a Digital Individual Action Plan?

The Digital Individual Action Plan is drawn up by a ΔΥΠΑ job counsellor together with the jobseeker.[S2] It is binding, and it sets out the cooperation between ΔΥΠΑ and the jobseeker.[S2] A joint ministerial decision (ΚΥΑ) of 15 December 2022 sets its template.[S13]

ΔΥΠΑ's instructions of January 2023 explain how to get one.[S8] These are the 2023 instructions; we have not seen a later version.

- If you already have a paper Individual Action Plan, confirm or update it in ΔΥΠΑ's e-services with your TAXISnet codes, and it becomes digital.[S8]
- If you have none, book an appointment with a job counsellor at your local ΚΠΑ2 job centre (Κέντρο Προώθησης Απασχόλησης, Kentro Proothisis Apascholisis), by video call through MyDYPAlive or in person.[S8]
- You can book by emailing your ΚΠΑ2 or by calling 1555.[S8]

## How do I claim the €300?

There is one step that the "no application" stories leave out.[S9][S11] You must log in to the gov.gr service with your TAXISnet codes, the personal login for Greek tax services.[S1] There you enter or update your IBAN and your family status.[S8] Only people with more than five years of unemployment and a Digital Action Plan can get into the platform and register an IBAN.[S6] The "Enter the service" button on gov.gr leads to ΔΥΠΑ's e-services site.[S1]

ΔΥΠΑ then checks the conditions itself.[S8] It confirms the length of unemployment and the Digital Action Plan, and cross-checks with ΑΑΔΕ (Ανεξάρτητη Αρχή Δημοσίων Εσόδων, Anexartiti Archi Dimosion Esodon), the tax authority, and ΗΔΙΚΑ (Ηλεκτρονική Διακυβέρνηση Κοινωνικής Ασφάλισης, Ilektroniki Diakyvernisi Koinonikis Asfalisis), the state e-governance company for social security.[S8] Payment goes automatically to the account you registered.[S8]

## When is the €300 paid?

ΔΥΠΑ pays the €300 in batches, and announces each batch on the day.[S4][S5][S6] The money appears in accounts within one to two working days of payment.[S4][S5][S6] As of 13 October 2026, we found no announcement of a 2026 batch; the latest batch announcement we found from ΔΥΠΑ is dated 24 April 2024.[S6]

## How many people have been paid?

ΔΥΠΑ's running totals rose from 41,755 on 17 February 2023 to 67,496 by 10 May 2023.[S4][S7] They reached 96,990 by 7 February 2024 and 100,186 by 24 April 2024.[S5][S6] By our calculation, 100,186 payments of €300 come to about €30.06 million.

## Does the €300 reduce the Minimum Guaranteed Income?

We do not know. ΤΑ ΝΕΑ (5 March 2026) wrote that the €300 counts as income and is set off against the next payment of the ΚΕΑ, Κοινωνικό Εισόδημα Αλληλεγγύης (Koinoniko Eisodima Allilengyis, Social Solidarity Income), the name ΤΑ ΝΕΑ uses; the scheme is now the ΕΕΕ, Ελάχιστο Εγγυημένο Εισόδημα (Elachisto Engyimeno Eisodima, the Minimum Guaranteed Income); newmoney.gr (11 March 2026) wrote that it is deducted from a future Minimum Guaranteed Income payment.[S9][S11] Neither cites a document. In February 2023, arcadianet.gr, citing Labour Ministry sources, reported that the €300 would not affect benefits such as the ΕΕΕ.[S12] We found no official text that settles it.

- Whether the €300 counts as income for the Minimum Guaranteed Income (ΕΕΕ) and is deducted from it. Greek press reports in 2026 say it is, a 2023 report attributes the opposite to Labour Ministry sources, and neither cites an official document.
- Whether the €300 is taxable or protected from seizure. We found nothing on this in the law or in ΔΥΠΑ's texts.
- Which tax year's income ΔΥΠΑ checks, and whether the €80,000 cap on family business revenue that ΔΥΠΑ cited in 2024 still applies; the current gov.gr page does not mention it.
- Whether a break in registration with ΔΥΠΑ restarts the five-year count, and how someone who believes they qualify but was not paid can object.
- How many people have received the €300 since April 2024. The latest total ΔΥΠΑ published that we found is 100,186 people by 24 April 2024.
