### Brain Gain: the same bill sets when the 50% tax break ends

### Will Greece's retirement age rise to 72? A European Commission projection, not a decision

### Ending or changing a lease: declare it to ΑΑΔΕ by the end of the next month

Under ΑΑΔΕ decision ΠΟΛ.1162/2018, a landlord must declare a new lease, or a change to one, by the end of the month after it starts or takes effect, and the end of a lease by the end of the month after it ends; otherwise the lease is deemed to be still in force.[S6] ΑΑΔΕ (Ανεξάρτητη Αρχή Δημοσίων Εσόδων, Anexartiti Archi Dimosion Esodon) is Greece's tax authority.[S6] Each tenant then has 30 days to accept or reject the declaration, and doing nothing counts as acceptance.[S6] Article 53 of law 5104/2024, the Tax Procedure Code (Κώδικας Φορολογικής Διαδικασίας, Kodikas Forologikis Diadikasias, or ΚΦΔ), sets a fine of €100 for each breach when an informational declaration with no tax due is filed late or not at all, and by our reading that covers the lease declaration.[S7][S6] By our calculation, a lease that ended in October 2026 must be declared ended by 30 November 2026.[S6] Our [guide to ending or changing a lease](https://agentnews.gr/guides/greece-myaade-lease-end-change) sets out the steps.

### Six measures plus two for municipalities: what the prime minister announced at the ΚΕΔΕ conference

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced a package of "6+2" measures for municipalities at the conference of ΚΕΔΕ (Κεντρική Ένωση Δήμων Ελλάδας, Kentriki Enosi Dimon Elladas), the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece, in Kalamata on Thursday 5 November 2026, according to enikos, Dnews and CNN Greece.[S8][S9][S10] The six measures, as those outlets report them, are these.[S8][S9][S10]

- €300m credited immediately to municipalities from ΕΟΑΝ (Ελληνικός Οργανισμός Ανακύκλωσης, Ellinikos Organismos Anakyklosis), the Hellenic Recycling Agency, for recycling projects.[S8][S9][S10]

### Athens Marathon on Sunday 8 November 2026: which roads and buses are affected?

The 43rd Athens Marathon runs from Marathon to the Panathenaic Stadium (Παναθηναϊκό Στάδιο, Panathinaiko Stadio) in Athens on Sunday 8 November 2026, from 08:30 to 18:15, according to the Hellenic Police announcement carried by enikos and by Athens Voice.[S11][S12] The main road closures in central Athens start at 14:00 on Saturday 7 November 2026, including on Vasileos Konstantinou, Vasilissis Sofias and Michalakopoulou avenues, enikos reports.[S11][S12] From 14:00 on Friday 6 November to 13:00 on Saturday 7 November 2026, buses are diverted because the northbound carriageway of Ardittou and Vasileos Konstantinou, between Vouliagmenis and Eratosthenous, is closed, according to the announcement of ΟΑΣΑ (Οργανισμός Αστικών Συγκοινωνιών Αθηνών, Organismos Astikon Sygkoinonion Athinon), the Athens transport authority, as carried by ERTSports.[S13] From 13:00 on Saturday 7 November to 21:00 on Sunday 8 November 2026, bus and trolleybus routes change in stages, following instructions from the Traffic Police.[S13] The marathon operations centre can be reached on 210 8708 237, 238 and 239.[S11][S12] We found no announcement of longer metro hours or free travel for runners, either in the ΟΑΣΑ notice or in Athens Voice.[S13][S12]

### ΔΥΠΑ Teachers' Register: the 14th supplementary call closes on Sunday 8 November 2026

ΔΥΠΑ (Δημόσια Υπηρεσία Απασχόλησης, Dimosia Ypiresia Apascholisis), Greece's public employment service, opened applications for the 14th supplementary call of its Teachers' Register at 15:00 on Thursday 5 November 2026.[S14] Applications run "until Sunday 8 November 2026, at 23:59", in our translation.[S14] The call fills vacancies in ΔΥΠΑ's own schools with hourly-paid teachers, on full or reduced hours, for up to one school year.[S14] Teachers who were removed from the Register of Temporary Substitute and Hourly Teachers under article 170 of law 5078/2023 can also apply.[S14] Applications are made on gov.gr with TAXISnet codes, under Εκπαίδευση → Επαγγελματίες εκπαίδευσης (Education → Education professionals), then the ΔΥΠΑ register entry.[S14]

### Still waiting: December pension dates and the heating-allowance platform
