### What does the Bank of Greece's October 2026 Financial Stability Review say?

### Price cuts on shop shelves continue to the end of 2026

ΑΔΕΔΥ (Ανώτατη Διοίκηση Ενώσεων Δημοσίων Υπαλλήλων, Anotati Dioikisi Enoseon Dimosion Ypallilon), the civil servants' confederation, has called stoppages on Friday 30 October 2026 in support of striking dockers.[S6][S7] The ΑΔΕΔΥ stoppages run from 08:00 to 12:00 in Attica and Achaia, and from 11:00 to the end of the shift in Thesprotia.[S6][S8] ΑΔΕΔΥ has called rallies at 10:00 at the Dimotiko Theatro square in Piraeus, at 10:00 at Patras port and at 11:30 at Igoumenitsa port.[S6]

The Piraeus Labour Centre (Εργατικό Κέντρο Πειραιά, Ergatiko Kentro Peiraia) has called a 24-hour strike across Piraeus on 30 October 2026, in a statement hosted by ΠΑΜΕ (PAME), the labour front aligned with the Communist Party of Greece.[S9] Proson reports that the centre also calls a four-hour stoppage for others working in the wider Piraeus area.[S11] ΕΝΕΔΕΠ (ENEDEP), which describes itself as the union of container-handling workers at the Piraeus piers, strikes the same day as part of what it calls an international day of action by dockers, in statements hosted by PAME and by 902.gr, the KKE's news site.[S10][S24] The organisers say more than 100 ports worldwide take part; we cannot check that figure.[S6][S10]

ΠΕΝΕΝ (PENEN, Πανελλήνια Ένωση Ναυτών Εμπορικού Ναυτικού, Panellinia Enosi Nafton Emporikou Naftikou), a seamen's union, and ΠΕΜΕΝ (PEMEN, Πανελλήνια Ένωση Μηχανικών Εμπορικού Ναυτικού, Panellinia Enosi Michanikon Emporikou Naftikou), a marine engineers' union, have called a 24-hour strike in Attica on 30 October 2026 in all categories of ships, with action at the ports of Patras and Igoumenitsa.[S12][S13][S14] In early October ΠΕΜΕΝ called on the other seafarers' unions to have the executive committee of ΠΝΟ (PNO, Πανελλήνια Ναυτική Ομοσπονδία, Panellinia Naftiki Omospondia), the seafarers' federation, convene and decide on a nationwide 24-hour strike for 30 October.[S13] Cyclades24 reported on 12 October that the Attica-wide strike covers Piraeus, Rafina and Lavrio, under a headline saying sailings would not run.[S14] We found no ΠΝΟ decision as of 23 October 2026, so how far ferries will be disrupted is not confirmed.[S13][S14] Travellers should check with their ferry company nearer the date.

### Coming up: public-sector engineers stop permit work from 17 to 27 November 2026

Engineers in the Greek public sector will abstain from building-permit and public-works duties from Tuesday 17 to Friday 27 November 2026, under a call issued on 21 October 2026.[S15] The call comes from ΠΟ ΕΜΔΥΔΑΣ (PO EMDYDAS, Πανελλήνια Ομοσπονδία Ενώσεων Μηχανικών Δημοσίων Υπαλλήλων Διπλωματούχων Ανωτάτων Σχολών, Panellinia Omospondia Enoseon Michanikon Dimosion Ypallilon Diplomatouchon Anotaton Scholon), the federation of graduate engineers in the public service, jointly with ΠΟΜΗΤΕΔΥ (POMITEDY), the federation of technologist engineers in the public service.[S15] During the action, members will not take part in the work of the building offices (ΥΔΟΜ, YDOM, Υπηρεσίες Δόμησης, Ypiresies Domisis) or the e-Άδειες (e-Adeies) online permits system.[S15] They will also stay away from public-works tender committees, town-planning acts and architecture councils.[S15] By our reading of the call, anyone in Greece waiting on a building permit in that period may face delays.[S15] The union says a formal legal notice setting out the abstention will follow.[S15]

The engineers also call a 24-hour nationwide strike on Wednesday 25 November 2026, jointly with ΑΔΕΔΥ, and a protest with a work stoppage at the finance ministry at 09:30 on Friday 27 November 2026.[S15] What they call "the first minimum step" (our translation) is the return of a special allowance of 1% of Public Investment Programme credits, created by law 2430/1996 and abolished by law 4024/2011.[S15] They also cite severe understaffing of technical services and building offices, and oppose moving the building offices into the Κτηματολόγιο (Ktimatologio), the Hellenic Cadastre.[S15]

### Delivery riders stopped work on Thursday 22 October 2026

A union of efood workers in Attica held a four-hour stoppage from 11:00 to 15:00 on Thursday 22 October 2026, with a rally at noon outside the labour ministry (Υπουργείο Εργασίας και Κοινωνικής Ασφάλισης, Ypourgeio Ergasias kai Koinonikis Asfalisis) on Stadiou Street in Athens.[S16][S17][S18] The riders timed the action ahead of 2 December 2026, the deadline for Greece to bring the EU directive on platform work into national law.[S17][S18] Their main demand was a rebuttable legal presumption that riders who want it are employees, which would bring leave, bonuses, seniority pay and cover for fuel, upkeep and work accidents.[S17][S18] They also asked for transparency about how algorithms set pay, ratings and orders, and for a minimum hourly rate covering the whole shift.[S16][S17][S18]

### Self-employed: September contributions due by 30 October 2026, reports say

Self-employed people, freelancers and farmers insured with e-ΕΦΚΑ must pay their September 2026 contributions by Friday 30 October 2026, Economistas and Odigos tou Politi report.[S19][S20] We could not find e-ΕΦΚΑ's own notice on its announcements page when we checked on 23 October 2026.[S21] The reports say the notices now combine main, supplementary and lump-sum contributions, and can be downloaded through e-ΕΦΚΑ's «Εισφορές Μη Μισθωτών» (Eisfores Mi Misthoton) e-service.[S19][S20][S22] Anyone paying by standing bank order should check that the RF payment code matches, the reports advise.[S19][S20]
